Eleven years, six rooms

From Cairo to LA

I've been building for the web since 2013. I started as a backend engineer in Cairo, writing PHP and MySQL against tight deadlines, and learned early that shipped and reliable beats clever.

The stack widened over the years. Backend grew into full stack when the APIs I owned needed React clients sitting on top of them. Full stack grew into cloud engineering when the systems outgrew a single box, and infrastructure as code, private networks, and delivery pipelines became the interface I worked in day to day. Cloud opened into AI once LLMs and agent workflows were the load worth architecting for. Today the work sits at that last layer: developer platforms, and the cloud estate they run on.

The through-line is how I work. Architecture documents and ADRs before code. Formal design reviews with evidence. Budgets for latency and cost written down where the team can argue with them, and metrics that say where they came from. The provenance chips on this site are how I mark that last part.
